Angels First Baseman Taking Reps At Different Position

He could get some playing time at a different position this season.

Los Angeles Angels manager Phil Nevin said on Tuesday that he expects Jared Walsh to get some work in the outfield during spring training.

Nevin noted that there's a good chance that Walsh will get some playing time in the outfield this spring.

The twenty-nine-year-old first baseman underwent surgery last September to correct thoracic outlet syndrome.

With the Angels rostering several infielders that will need to play at first to get playing time this season, Walsh will likely be pushed to the outfield on occasion this year.

Walsh took a step back from his offensive numbers in 2021, slashing a brutal .215/.269/.374, with 15 home runs, 44 RBIs, two stolen bases and 41 runs scored over 118 games last season.

He's a good bounceback candidate, however, if he can stay healthy.
