Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Takes Another Shot At Division Rival

For the second time this offseason, Toronto Blue Jays All-Star Gold Glove first baseman has thrown shade at his heated division rival New York Yankees.

When asked at a Jays' Winter Caravan activity at an elementary school in Toronto which team was the easiest for him to play against last season, Vladdy had no problem coming up with an answer:

"The Yankees!" said Vladdy to the rousing cheers of the schoolchildren. Vladdy crushed five of his 32 longballs against the Yanks this past season, including a monster 3-HR game.

It was back in November during a Spanish-language interview that Guerrero also said that the Yankees were the one team he would never sign with—dead or alive.

"I like to play in New York, I like to kill the Yankees," Guerrero said to radio personality Vincent Carmona Arias. "I would never sign with the Yankees, not even (when I'm) dead."

For the record, Vladdy had a 157 OPS+ against the Yankees in 2022, which means he hit 57% better against the Pinstripers than other major league batters did. He hit five home runs with 13 RBIs in 19 games, with an .833 OPS.

All of this should make for some interesting matchups between the Jays and the Bronx Bombers this coming season.
