Toronto Blue Jays Sign Catcher

The Toronto Blue Jays add to their catching depth.

The Blue Jays have signed catcher Steve Berman to a minor-league contract with an invite to spring training.

Berman split last season between the Blue Jays and the Minnesota Twins at the Triple-A level, posting a .212/.342/.734 triple slash line, with eight home runs, 28 RBIs, one stolen base and 27 runs scored 212 at-bats.

The twenty-eight-year-old will provide some emergency catching depth behind Alejandro Kirk and Danny Jansen.

For his minor-league career, Berman holds a .234/.335/.692 triple-slash line, with 19 home runs, 120 RBIs, four stolen bases and 101 runs scored.

He is a former 31st-round pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2016 MLB Draft.
