Tigers And Orioles Swing Trade
The Detroit Tigers have plenty of at-bats open at third base this coming season, so they helped to fill some of that void by acquiring a versatile player from the Baltimore Orioles.
The #Tigers have acquired infielder Tyler Nevin from the Orioles in exchange for cash considerations.

Nevin, 25, hit .197 with two home runs, 20 walks and 46 strikeouts in 58 games last season.
Tyler Nevin was a first-round selection in the 2015 June Draft (38th overall) and cracked the big leagues for some small sample tryouts with the Orioles the past couple of seasons. The O's DFA'd him this past week; the Tigers have now worked out a deal to acquire him for cash considerations.
The 25-year-old hit .286 with a home run in just 14 at-bats in 2021, and this past season got a bigger look, with 157 at-bats. Things didn't go quite as well, as he posted a .198 average with a .560 OPS. He did perform better at Triple-A in 2022, however, with a .291 avg, and .861 OPS.
Although he can play 1B, 3B, and both outfield corner spots, most of his time with the Orioles was spent at third base.
Tyler's father Phil Nevin is a former big leaguer who spent three seasons with the Tigers (1995-97) and is currently the Los Angeles Angels manager.
