Texas Rangers Sign Pitcher
The Texas Rangers signed Kyle Funkhouser to a minor league contract.
Funkhouser missed all of the 2022 season due to a shoulder injury, but now he will be aiming to get fully healthy and have a big year with the Rangers in 2023. Before his injury, Funkhouser was a big part of the Detroit Tigers' bullpen in 2021, and the truth is in his stats. In 57 appearances with the Tigers that year, he sported a 7-4 record to go along with a 3.42 ERA. Overall, he was a very reliable reliever when called upon that season for Detroit, so he will be hoping to be the same for Texas.
With this move, the Rangers are taking a chance on a reliever who has had past success in the league. Missing an entire season can certainly make a pitcher rusty, but we will have to wait and see if Funkhouser can make their major league roster for the start of the year from here.
