St. Louis Cardinals Adding To Catching Depth With 3-Year Veteran
The St. Louis Cardinals have entered boldly into the post-Yadier Molina era at catcher. Today's signing won't eclipse free agent Willson Contreras as the starter, but it does provide a bit more depth behind the plate.
We have signed C Tres Barrera to a minor league contract for 2023 with a non-roster invite to Spring Training.

Catcher Tres Barrera has been signed to a minor league contract for 2023 with a non-roster invite to Spring Training. The 28-year-old will battle with Andrew Knizner for backup duties behind Contreras.
He has appeared in 51 games over three seasons with the Washington Nationals, where he batted a combined .231 with a .631 OPS, a couple of home runs and 14 RBIs.
Want to thank the Washington Nationals organization for giving me the chance to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a Major League Baseball player. Forever grateful for the opportunities and relationships made. Excited for next chapter.
