La Stella was designated for assignment last week and now the Giants will be forced to pay the final $11.5 million remaining on his three-year, $18.75 million contract they signed him to in February of 2021.
The thirty-three-year-old dealt with injuries during his time in San Francisco and wound up slashing .245/.297/.380, with nine home runs, 41 RBIs and 43 runs scored across 136 games played between 2021-22.
La Stella has been a solid contact hitter in the past and can easily get back to that, barring any more injury problems. A team will likely scoop him up in the coming days.
