San Diego Padres Sign Outfielder

The San Diego Padres make another move.

The Padres have signed outfielder Adam Engel to a one-year contract.

Engel was non-tendered by the Chicago White Sox in November after slashing a poor .224/.269/.310, with two home runs, 17 RBIs, 12 stolen bases and 32 runs scored across 119 games this past season.

Engel was much better in 2020-21, slashing a strong .270/.335/.488, however, last year's stats are more representative of how his career has mostly gone.

The thirty-one-year-old is still a solid defender, maybe not as good as he once was, but more than capable in the outfield and in the corners.

All in all, Engel is a solid depth addition for the Padres. Also, depending on how Trent Grisham performs this year, the Padres could have him and Engel split time in the outfield.
