San Diego Padres Sign Infielder

The San Diego Padres have signed Jantzen Witte to a minor league contract. 

Witte has yet to appear in a major league game, but he has a plethora of experience in the minor leagues. As a result, it makes sense that the Padres are bringing him in as a depth player, as he can be a mentor to their prospects in Triple-A. 

However, if Witte impresses at spring training, perhaps it could open the door for him to potentially receive a call-up to the Padres at some point during the year. After all, he offers versatility, as he can play third base, first base, and second base.
