Phillies Manager Speaks On Closer Situation For This Coming Season

The Philadelphia Phillies have lots of experienced ninth-inning options.

As a result, the Philadelphia Phillies plan on going without an official closer this season, according to manager Rob Thomson.

Speaking on Thursday, Thomson said, "Unless somebody steps up and is completely dominant. But I think you're going to have to give guys days off, so having the depth in that bullpen is really big. I think it worked pretty well last year with the way we did it."

As previously mentioned, the Phillies have plenty of experienced options with Craig Kimbrel, Gregory Soto, Seranthony Dominguez and Jose Alvarado to mix and match with different ninth-inning matchups this coming season.

It's a good situation for the Phillies to find themselves in.
