Philadelphia Phillies Sign Reliever

An interesting addition by the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phillies have signed pitcher Louis Head to a minor league contract.

Head gives the Phillies some added organizational relief depth after registering an underwhelming 6.28 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, and 26 strikeouts over 28.2 innings of work last season with the Miami Marlins and the Baltimore Orioles.

Head closed out his season strong, however, posting a stellar 1.80 ERA over five relief appearances after joining the Orioles.

The thirty-two-year-old made his major league debut in 2021 with the Tampa Bay Rays, where he recorded a very good 2.31 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 32 strikeouts over 35 innings and 27 appearances.

Head brings experience and quality relief depth to the Phillies and he'll remain a solid depth option for them this coming season.
