Cruz adds to the Phillies' organizational relief depth heading into the 2023 season.
Cruz made seven relief appearances for the Atlanta Braves last season, recording a 6.23 ERA and six strikeouts. He then spent the rest of the season at the Triple-A level, posting a decent 4.23 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 39 strikeouts over 27.2 innings. He made 28 relief appearances, converted one save and held a 2-1 record.
The twenty-seven-year-old will most likely begin the season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, but could earn a promotion to the majors at some point during the season.
