Ward has not played affiliated ball since the 2019 season when he played in Class-A ball for the Oakland Athletics.
This past season, the twenty-seven-year-old played for the Washington WildThings in the independent Frontier League where he slashed an impressive .349/.478/.620, with 19 home runs, 61 RBIs and 18 stolen bases over 82 games.
For his minor league career, Ward holds a .246/.364/.732 triple slash line, with eight home runs, 67 RBIs, 14 stolen bases and 81 runs scored over 495 at-bats.
He is a former 34th-round pick by the Athletics in the 2018 MLB Draft. He'll add some organizational depth for the Phillies.
