Philadelphia Phillies Sign Versatile Free Agent

The Philadephia Phillies have added another nice piece to their ever-growing mix, signing one of the last remaining notable free agents in infielder/outfielder Josh Harrison.

According to MLB Insider Jon Heyman, it's a one-year, $2M deal for the versatile Harrison, who joins his 6th MLB team in 12 years.

He'll be a nice fit on the Phillies bench, and be able to slot in, as needed at a variety of positions. In 2022 with the Chicago White Sox, he played some 2B, SS, 3B, and LF. Heck, he even took the mound three times in mop-up duty. He hit .256 with a .687 OPS.

The 35-year-old has slowed from his earlier days of double-digit steals, but he can still run a bit, and go get it in the field.

In 12 major league seasons, Harrison has most often been seen at second base and third base, but his veteran know-how and versatility will be a boon to the Phils. He's compiled a .272 career average, with a .717 OPS, just a tick below average, with an OPS+ of 96.
