Philadelphia Phillies Add To Pitching Depth
The Philadelphia Phillies are taking no chances. Pitching has been a bit of an issue for them over the years, particularly in the bullpen. They've completely rebuilt their 'pen with moves this offseason, and continue to stockpile depth for the system. They've signed a former Arizona Diamondbacks prospect, Jon Duplantier.
The #Phillies have signed 28-year-old righty Jon Duplantier. Arizona’s 3rd round pick in the 2016 Draft pitched in 19 games (7 starts) with the @Dbacks over 2019 and 2021. The Newark, DE native gets a spring training invite. pic.twitter.com/RBp4X4qAl5

The 28-year-old right-hander will get an invite to spring training after spending the entire 2022 season in the Los Angeles Dodgers' minor league system. He posted a somewhat reasonable 4.80 ERA in the offensively-robust Pacific Coast League. He struck out an impressive 10.5 batters per nine innings.
Duplantier offers some options, as he can start or relieve.
He's only amassed 49 innings total in parts of two big league seasons with the Snakes, but it's resulted in an untenable 6.70 ERA. He's out of minor league options, so if he makes the Phillies roster, he'll need to stick, or be placed on waivers.
