Sanchez last appeared in the majors in 2017 and has spent the last two seasons with the Yomiuri Giants of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball. The right-handed pitcher also spent a few years in the Korea Baseball Organization.
Over 12.1 career innings pitched in the majors, the thirty-three-year-old holds a brutal 8.76 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 10 strikeouts.
Sanchez will have a chance to make the Padres' Opening Day roster and will, regardless, provide them with some extra organizational relief depth.
