Orioles Talented Pitcher Undergoes Successful Surgery

He had a fantastic season in the minors last year.

Baltimore Orioles pitcher Nick Vespi underwent successful hernia surgery on Thursday, according to Nathan Ruiz of the Baltimore Sun.

Vespi reportedly underwent the surgery at Sarasota Memorial Hospital which was performed by Dr. Russell Novak.

The twenty-seven-year-old is expected to miss the start of the season, but the Orioles are hopeful that he'll be able to return in the early part of the 2023 season.

Over 26 appearances in the minors last season, Vespi posted an immaculate 0.00 ERA, 0.59 WHIP, and 36 strikeouts over 28.2 innings of work. He didn't fare as well in the majors, however, as he recorded a pedestrian 4.10 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 28 strikeouts over 26.1 innings.

The left-handed pitcher is a former 18th-round pick by the Orioles in the 2015 MLB Draft.
