Oakland Athletics Sign Pitcher

The Oakland Athletics have added to their pitching depth, as they have signed Joe Wieland to a minor league contract.

Weiland last appeared in the majors all the way back in 2016 when he was a member of the Seattle Mariners. Since then, he has been struck in the minor leagues, but now he will be aiming to change that as a Mariner during the 2023 campaign.

Weiland appeared in just eight games last season split between Triple-A and Rk, where he had a 1-1 record to go along with a 1.93 ERA. Overall, he was well when utilized, but now he will be trying to translate that success over to this campaign. If he does, perhaps a call-up could be in the cards for him at some point this season.
