Machado went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week.
This past season, the twenty-nine-year-old recorded a solid 3.34 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, and 46 strikeouts across 59.1 innings of work in the majors.
For his major league career, Machado holds a decent 4.10 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 77 strikeouts over 98.2 innings. He's made 93 relief appearances and holds a 3-2 record.
It comes as a bit of a surprise that no team scooped him up off the waiver wire, but Machado will now remain with the Nationals as added organizational relief depth.
