Nationals Pitcher Goes Unclaimed On Waivers; Sent Outright To Triple-A

He was designated for assignment before Christmas but passed through waivers unclaimed.

As a result, the Washington Nationals have sent pitcher Reed Garrett outright to Triple-A Rochester.

In seven relief appearances for the Nationals this past season, Garrett posted an ugly 6.75 ERA, 2.25 WHIP and six strikeouts. In the minors last season, however, the thirty-year-old recorded a strong 2.98 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, with 53 strikeouts across 48.1 innings of work. He made 43 relief appearances, converted three saves and held a 4-4 record.

Garrett is a former 16th-round pick by the Texas Rangers in the 2014 MLB Draft. He is still a work in progress for the Nationals.
