MLB Rumors: Twins Dangling Top Hitter In Trade Talks With Marlins

The Minnesota Twins are looking for an impact starter. And word from team insiders is that they're dangling American League batting champion Luis Arraez in the process.

Though no deal is imminent, the Twins continue to discuss Arraez with the Miami Marlins, who possess several young starting pitchers of interest, most notably 26-year-old right-hander Pablo López.

That's the word from Twins beat writer Dan Hayes of The Athletic. But he adds that the team would much rather keep Arraez, and wouldn't be ready to part with him straight up in a one-for-one deal of that sort.

"Club sources said the Twins would trade Arraez if the return included controllable young pitching." As in multiple arms.

To that end, previous reports have noted that the Marlins, in addition to Lopez, are also listening on several others in their cadre of promising young arms, including Jesús LuzardoTrevor Rogers and Edward Cabrera.

Arraez is coming off a tremendous season, and was the only thing standing between Aaron Judge and the Triple Crown in 2022. The Twins' infielder batted .316 to win the batting crown over Judge, who finished at .311 to go with his 62 HR and 131 RBIs.

Arraez, 25, posted a .795 OPS with a .375 on-base, along with 31 doubles and 88 runs for the Twins.
