MLB Rumors: Red Sox In Search Of Left-Handed Relief Depth; Could Target Free Agent LHP
Since the Red Sox are lacking an impact LHP in the bullpen, Andrew Chafin feels like a great fit.

He’s posted a 2.29 ERA/3.02 FIP over the last 2 seasons (126 IP), with a 9.7 K/9 and 2.7 BB/9.
Would be a great alternative to John Schreiber late in games.pic.twitter.com/k0kv9aexMs
The thirty-two-year-old Chafin checks all the boxes. He's an impact LHP, has recorded a sparkling 2.29 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, and 131 strikeouts over the last two seasons, and he would be a great compliment to John Schreiber in the late innings.
It seems like a perfect fit.
However, Chafin reportedly turned down a $6.5 million player option for 2023 so he's obviously looking for a higher salary, which is maybe deterring the Red Sox.
Still, it's fascinating that a pitcher as good as Chafin remains on the market at this stage.
