MLB Rumors: Houston Astros Targeting 3 Catchers

The Houston Astros are aiming to add to the roster before the start of the 2023 season. Ultimately, it makes sense, as they are aiming to become back-to-back World Series champions. An area on the roster that needs improvement is the catcher position, and this is why they are currently linked to three catchers on the free-agent market. Gary Sanchez, Roberto Perez, and Jorge Alfaro are currently on the Astros’ radar.

Although none of these catchers are stars, they each come with an immense amount of MLB experience. As a result of this, they could provide the Astros with a platoon option for the year. When looking at their current roster, this is something that likely would be welcomed with open arms by the ‘Stros.

Out of this trio, Sanchez would be the most notable if signed. However, Perez and Alfaro would each be decent little additions themselves, so we will have to wait and see if the Astros end up signing any of them before the start of the season.
