MLB Rumors: Elvis Andrus to Boston Red Sox Heating Up
The Boston Red Sox are looking to add to their infield depth before the start of the regular season. Elvis Andrus has been linked to them for the last few weeks, and now more fuel is being added to that fire. According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Red Sox are stepping up their efforts to sign the veteran infielder.
The Red Sox are going to need to add a middle infielder before the start of the season, as Trevor Story is now going to be sidelined due to surgery. With that, they also of course lost star shortstop Xander Bogaerts to the San Diego Padres through free agency this offseason, so there already is a massive hole to fill there. Although Andrus is not a star, he would provide the Red Sox with another experienced infielder.
We will need to wait and see if the Red Sox end up signing him from here, but on paper, there appears to be a very good fit here.
