MLB Rumors: Chicago White Sox Linked to Infielder
Earlier this week, Mike Moustakas was officially released by the Cincinnati Reds. This marked the end of a rather disappointing tenure with the team, but now he will be looking for a new home elsewhere. The Chicago White Sox are reportedly looking to add a veteran slugger to their group, and there are now rumblings that they are interested in Moustakas.
Moustakas could be a decent depth option for Chicago at a minimum, as he can play third base, second base, and first base. Therefore, he could get into a decent amount of action, even if he served as a back up player. Ultimately, he is the kind of Swiss Army knife player that all major league teams would love to have, but especially at a far cheaper price.
And 78 games last season with the Reds, Moustakas had seven home runs, 25 RBIs, and a .214 batting average. It will be intriguing to see if the White Sox end up signing him. If so, look for Moustakas to put together a bounce-back season in 2023.
