The Chicago Cubs are heading into the 2023 season with the expectation that they will be competitive. After all, they made several additions to their roster during the offseason and look better on paper because of it. However, if they still do not take that next step, the Cubs will be likely to trade pending UFA Ian Happ.

Happ is coming off of an All-Star season, so there is no question that he has a lot of trade value. As a result, the Cubs could land some valuable assets in exchange for them. Their primary goal right now is to add to their bullpen and also improve their offense. As a result, they could elect to move Happ if they can get just that.
