MLB Rumors: Boston Red Sox Linked to Cardinals Catcher

After signing star catcher Willson Contreras this offseason, the St. Louis Cardinals are listening to offers for Ivan Herrera. It appears that the young catcher is starting to get attention on the trade market, as the Boston Red Sox are reportedly making a push to acquire him.

The Red Sox are in a position to add to their catching depth. After trading Christian Vazquez last season, it has become a position of weakness for Boston, so they should be looking to improve their depth because of it. With Herrera being so young and having a lot of potential, he could be the exact player that the Red Sox should be taking a chance on.

We will need to wait and see if Boston’s interest in Herrera ends up resulting in them acquiring him before the start of the regular season. Boston could be a perfect fit for him, as he would surely receive MLB time with them.
