Minnesota Twins Claim Pitcher Off Waivers

Joining the Minnesota Twins.

The Twins have claimed pitcher Oliver Ortega off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels.

Ortega pitched relatively well in his 27 appearances out of the bullpen for the Angels last season, posting a 3.71 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and 33 strikeouts across 34 innings of work. He converted one save and held a 1-3 record.

Oddly enough, the twenty-six-year-old was much worse in the minors, recording an ugly 5.96 ERA, 1.64 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts over 25.2 innings last season.

Ortega now joins the Twins and has a real shot at making the team's Opening Day roster.
