Miami Marlins Release Infielder
Cut by the Miami Marlins.
The Marlins have released infielder Demetrius Sims.
Sims spent all of last season in the Marlins minors, split between Triple-A Jacksonville and Double-A Pensacola, slashing .256/.339/.367, with three home runs, 20 RBIs, 10 stolen bases and 27 runs scored over 64 games.
The twenty-seven-year-old has labored in the Marlins' minor-league system for five years and is still looking to make his major league debut. He's now been granted the opportunity to achieve that goal elsewhere.
Sims is a former 14th-round pick by the Marlins in the 2017 MLB Draft.
For his minor-league career, he holds a .239/.331/.336, with 15 home runs, 106 RBIs, 52 stolen bases and 158 runs scored across 348 games.
