Los Angeles Dodgers Sign Pitcher; Former 2nd-Round Pick

Looking to make his major-league debut.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have signed pitcher Kevin Gowdy to a minor-league contract.

Gowdy has yet to reach the majors after being drafted in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Gowdy spent last season with the Texas Rangers' organization, pitching for Double-A Frisco and recording a horrendous 9.90 ERA, 2.08 WHIP, and 33 strikeouts over 40 innings of work. He made three starts, 29 relief appearances and held a 2-3 record.

However, the Dodgers clearly see some potential in the 6-foot-4, 170-pound pitcher and will take him on as another one of their pitching projects.

We'll see if the Dodgers can revive some of that former potential in the twenty-five-year-old.
