Los Angeles Angels Designate Pitcher For Assignment
With the Los Angeles Angels signing Brett Phillips to a one-year deal on Monday, they needed to free up a spot on the 40-man roster.
As a result, the Angels have designated pitcher Austin Warren for assignment.
The #Angels today agreed to a one-year, $1.2 million contract with OF Brett Phillips.

Warren made 14 appearances with the Angels last season, recording a poor 5.63 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and nine strikeouts across 16 innings of work.
The twenty-six-year-old fared much better in the minors, however, posting a 2.12 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 30 strikeouts over 34 innings. He made 29 relief appearances, converted one save and held a 2-0 record.
There's a decent chance Warren passes through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as pitching depth for the Angels.
