At just 24, he only becomes eligible to be posted after he completes the 2023 season, his 7th in the KBO.
And his first six years have been spectacular. He's compiled the KBO's highest all-time career batting average (minimum 3,000 plate appearances) with a .342 mark. Playing in a pitcher-friendly ballpark, he won the MVP in 2022, posting career highs with a .996 OPS, 23 HR, 113 RBIs, along with a .349 average.
Just two weeks ago, Lee told the Heroes of his desire to take his talents to the major leagues, and they have officially obliged by agreeing to post him after the coming season.
"After some internal discussions, we agreed to respect the player's intent to play in Major League Baseball," the Heroes said in a statement. "We will provide whatever support necessary for the player."
Sounds like we can expect a bidding war among MLB teams for Lee next offseason.
