Sammons was drafted in the eighth round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins and has spent the first five seasons of his minor league career with their organization.
The twenty-seven-year-old posted a 5.76 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 59 strikeouts over 50 innings last season in Double-A Wichita.
He's a left-handed pitcher, which is always nice for a team to have extra of.
For his minor-league career, Sammons holds a 4.40 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, and 457 strikeouts over 439.2 innings of work. He's made 75 starts, 49 relief appearances, converted two saves and holds a 27-28 record.
