Houston Astros Acquire Outfielder From Detroit Tigers

The Houston Astros make a move.

The Astros have acquired outfielder Bligh Madris from the Detroit Tigers for cash considerations.

The Tigers designated Madris for assignment late last month in order to free up a spot on their 40-man roster. As a result, they were willing to trade the outfielder for whatever they could get.

Madris was disappointing in his time with the Pittsburgh Pirates this past season, posting a .177/.244/.509 triple slash line, with one home run, seven RBIs, two stolen bases and 10 runs scored across 113 at-bats.

In the minors, however, the twenty-six-year-old slashed a strong .297/.366/.876 line, with 11 home runs, 49 RBIs, four stolen bases and 45 runs scored over 296 at-bats.

Madris has an intriguing blend of power and speed and it should be interesting to see if he can find some consistent playing time with the Astros this season.
