.214 BA, .295 OBP, .345 SLG, .640 OPS, 7 HR, 25 RBI
Although he had a bad season, wouldn’t hurt to throw him a minor league deal with a spring training invite. Just to see if he may show any signs of revival. #Marlins pic.twitter.com/7nufZyaeQb
Moustakas was designated for assignment last month as the corresponding move for the Reds' signing of catcher Curt Casali, making the veteran infielder officially a free agent.
The thirty-four-year-old is still owed $18 million from the Reds in 2023 and another $4 million on a $20 million club option buyout for the 2024 season. However, the next team that signs Moustakas will have to pay him just a little above the MLB minimum.
Last season, Moustakas slashed an atrocious .214/.295/.345, with seven home runs, 25 RBIs, two stolen bases and 30 runs scored over 78 games. He dealt with injuries all season long.
It wouldn't be surprising to see a team sign Moustakas to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.
