Chicago White Sox Claim Starting Pitcher Off Waivers

Headed to Chicago.

The Chicago White Sox have claimed pitcher A.J. Alexy off of waivers from the Minnesota Twins.

Alexy was designated for assignment last week by the Twins and will now head to their division-rival White Sox.

The twenty-four-year-old pitcher has also spent time this offseason with the Texas Rangers and the Washington Nationals.

For his major-league career, the twenty-four-year-old holds a 6.30 ERA, 1.63 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts across 30 innings of work, all with the Rangers.

Alexy has found more success in the minors, however, registering a 3.93 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, and 465 strikeouts over 396 innings. He's made 78 starts and 27 relief appearances so he offers some versatility.

It's a low-risk signing by the White Sox.

He is a former 11th-round pick of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2016 MLB Draft.
