Last season, between Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Sugar Land in the Houston Astros' minor-league system, Diaz slashed a lackluster .193/.264/.639, with 12 home runs, 41 RBIs, two stolen bases and 32 runs scored over 259 at-bats.
The twenty-seven-year-old is capable of handling multiple spots defensively, so that's a plus.
Diaz is a former 15th-round pick by the Oakland Athletics in the 2013 MLB Draft. He's still looking to make his major league debut.
