Blue Jays Sign Long-Time Yankees High-Leverage Reliever
The Toronto Blue Jays make a splash in the free agent pool.
The Blue Jays have signed veteran reliever Chad Green, according to Michael Marino.
Green underwent Tommy John surgery last June and is expected to be sidelined until the late stages of the 2023 season, at the earliest.
Since his MLB debut in 2016, Green holds a strong 3.17 ERA, a fantastic 1.02 WHIP, and 494 strikeouts over 383.2 innings of work, all with the New York Yankees.
Chad Green underwent TJ in late May of last season. Wonder if this is a 2-year deal.

It's definitely a worthy gamble for the Blue Jays to make and the thirty-one-year-old will add greatly to their high-leverage relievers once he's ready to return.
The deal is reportedly $8.5 million over two years, with options for 2025 and 2026. It's a low-risk deal with lots of upside.
