Blue Jays Flame-Throwing Pitcher Goes Unclaimed On Waivers; Sent Outright

Honestly, a little surprising that no team scooped him up.

As a result, the Toronto Blue Jays have sent pitcher Junior Fernandez outright to Triple-A Buffalo after he was designated for assignment last week.

The Blue Jays will gladly take the extra relief depth in the flame-throwing right-handed pitcher.

Fernandez posted a strong 2.41 ERA, 1.61 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts over 18.2 innings of work last season with the St. Louis Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The biggest issue the twenty-five-year-old faces is his command issues, which he's struggled with his whole career, so that will be something that Pete Walker and the Blue Jays will have to work with.

In the minors last season, Fernandez posted a 4.87 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, and 51 strikeouts across 44.1 innings of work.
