Baltimore Orioles Designate Pitcher For Assignment
The Baltimore Orioles have designated Darwinzon Hernandez for assignment. This news come after the Orioles acquired Cole Irvin from the Oakland Athletics.
Hernandez's removal from the Orioles' 40-man roster has occurred before he even had the opportunity to appear in a game for them. Instead, the lefty appeared in seven games this past season with the Boston Red Sox, where he had a 0-1 record to go along with a 21.60 ERA in seven appearances. However, he also had a 3.38 ERA in 48 games for Boston the year before.
The Orioles will now have a week to either trade Hernandez or place him on waivers. Due to his past success, it seems possible that another team will take a chance on him. Alas, we will need to wait and see what happens from here.
