Baltimore Orioles Designate Infielder for Assignment

The Baltimore Orioles recently added Ryan O’Hearn to the roster through a trade with the Kansas City Royals. Now, he has already been removed from their 40-man roster, as he has been designated for assignment.

O’Hearn will now either be traded or placed on waivers by the end of the week. Teams looking for a bit of depth at first base could consider acquiring O’Hearn from the Orioles. Furthermore, he also can play the outfield if needed, so he does offer a bit of versatility at the end of the day.

After an excellent rookie season in 2018, O’Brien has had trouble replicating that form. In 67 games last season with Kansas City, he had one home run, 16 RBIs, and a .239 batting average. Although those numbers are not dominant by any stretch of the imagination, he has the potential to be a decent hitter while playing at his best. Let’s see if he finds a new home this week.
