It was a short stay in free agency for him.

Higgins gives the D-Backs some added catching depth behind starters Carson Kelly and Gabriel Moreno.
In 74 games last season, Higgins slashed an underwhelming .229/.310/.383, with six home runs, 30 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He fared much better in the minors, however, slashing a fantastic .417/.500/.1.069 line, with a home run, 17 RBIs, one stolen base and nine runs scored across 72 at-bats.
If Moreno struggles to start the season, there's a good chance Higgins takes his spot on the 40-man roster.
