Washington Nationals Claim Infielder Off Waivers

The Washington Nationals have claimed Jeter Downs off of waivers from the Boston Red Sox.

Downs was one of the main pieces that the Red Sox acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Mookie Betts trade and boy, has that trade aged like milk. Now, Downs is gone without the Red Sox receiving a single asset for him.

Downs struggled this season, but the Nationals are still open to taking a chance on him. In 14 games with Boston this season, the 23-year-old infielder had one home run, four RBIs, and a .154 batting average. Let's see if he can turn things around as a National from here.
