San Diego Padres Sign Outfielder
The San Diego Padres have signed Max Schrock to a minor league contract. He also has been invited to attend Spring Training with the major league squad.
Schrock spent this past season with the Cincinnati Reds. In 13 games in the majors on the year, he had zero home runs, one RBI, and a .154 batting average. Overall, it was a notable step in the wrong direction. Keep in mind, he just had three home runs to go along with a much better .288 batting average in 53 games with the Reds the year before. He will now be aiming to find his old form in San Diego from here.
Overall, there's no harm in the Padres taking a chance on Schrock. At worst, he will serve as a potential call-up option for them, but let's see if he can make the team out of Spring Training.
