Tovar impressed in his promotion to the majors at the end of last season, recording seven hits and a home run over nine games. He now has the opportunity, and is poised to become the team's new starting shortstop.
In the minors last season, the twenty-one-year-old slashed a fantastic .319/.387/.540, with 14 home runs, 49 RBIs, 17 stolen bases and 42 runs scored across 71 games.
Tovar is the 27th-ranked prospect in all of baseball.
