Pittsburgh Pirates Designate Pitcher for Assignment

The Pittsburgh Pirates have designated Nick Mears for assignment.

This Mears DFA is in response to the Pirates acquiring Connor Joe from the Colorado Rockies. The Pirates needed to free up a spot on their 40-man roster, and Mears, unfortunately, was the victim of this and now is hitting the waiver wire because of it.

Teams in need of some pitching depth could consider the prospect of bringing in Mears. In 36 career MLB games, he has a 1-0 record to go along with a 4.75 ERA.
