Philadelphia Phillies Claim Outfielder Off Waivers
The Philadelphia Phillies have claimed Jake Cave off of waivers from the Baltimore Orioles.
Cave appeared in 54 games this past season with the Minnesota Twins, where he had five home runs, 20 RBIs, and a .213 batting average. When the Orioles brought him in, he did not play a game for them. Now, his time in Baltimore is over, and he will be hoping to land a major league job with the Phillies from here.
Ultimately, there's no harm in the Phillies taking a chance on Cave. At a minimum, he will provide them with more outfield depth for 2023. However, he also did have a 13-home run season as a rookie in 2018 with the Twins, so perhaps they are hoping he can find that form again from here.
