Oakland Athletics & Colorado Rockies Complete Trade
The Oakland Athletics have acquired Chad Smith from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Jeff Criswell.
Smith appeared in his 15 MLB games this season with the Rockies, and it is fair to say he struggled immensely in the process. His 7.50 ERA shows this effectively, but now he will be hoping to turn things around with this change to Oakland. Given the fact that the A's sport one of the weakest bullpens in the league, it does open the door for the 6-foot-4 righty to get plenty of chances.
Criswell, on the other hand, is a prospect who spent this past season split between Triple-A, Double-A, and Single A+. In 24 games total, he sported a 4-10 record to go along with a 4.03 ERA. He will be hoping to compete for a spot on the Rockies' major league roster in 2023.
