MLB Rumors: Tampa Bay Rays to Shop Infielder
As a small-market club, the Tampa Bay Rays have become notorious for trading their most expensive players. This is a trend we are expected to see continue this offseason, and Yandy Diaz is a trade candidate because of it.
Diaz is due for a new contract and will make more than his recent $2.8 million salary. As a result, the Rays are likely to move on from the third baseman.
Diaz certainly could get the Rays a decent amount in a trade, so don't be surprised to see Tampa Bay take advantage of it. In 137 games this past season with the Rays, he had nine home runs, 57 RBIs, and a .296 batting average. After a year like this, his trade value is at its highest, so let's see if the Rays move him because of it from here.
