MLB Rumors: Free-Agent Pitcher Looking for Seven-Year Deal
According to Susan Slusser, free-agent starter Carlos Rodon is seeking a seven-year contract.
Rodon is coming off of a second-straight All-Star season, so it makes sense that he is looking for a long-term deal. The 30-year-old sported a 14-8 record to go along with a 2.88 ERA in 31 games for the San Francisco Giants, so it is apparent that he was excellent. There's no question that he will get a lot of money as a free agent because of it, but there is definitely a risk in giving a 30-year-old pitcher a seven-year contract.
MLB insider Jon Heyman reported that teams are leaning toward giving Rodon a four- or five-year contract, so we will have to wait and see what kind of deal the latter gets from here.
